Seems like a lot more of the board is open to all eyes at the moment than has been the case in the past ie not behind registration wall. Just wondering if that was planned or what's up.

Yeah. I opened it up because it's not like there's a whole volume of posts anymore and nothing that's anything that would need to be private. If you're all uncomfortable with this, let me know and I'll close it up again.

I suppose it's all the older stuff that was posted with an assumption that it was not open to the world that I'd be most concerned about. I'm not going in going back to see what I ever posted to make sure, so whatever. Guess I'm not sure why it needed changing. If I'm the only one who cares, no worries.

Well, if I had to choose, I'd prefer that it stay private. I just hate the idea of some quote coming up on Google searches. I guess I shouldn't care since I don't have my name on my post... edit: e.g. HJ posted a get well shout out on Instagram today. I might have commented, but thought better of it on a public place.

I hate to ask, but why are you upset with the board Kristin? I'm sorry if that bothers you, me asking that.

I agree with Kristin's opening the board all these years after the "need" for exclusivity. Good grief, who is going to go back 50 pages and search out a comment someone made years ago? For what? As far as I know, none of you use your real name. One of the reasons, aside from Hugh news isn't all that interesting anymore, I don't post or visit much is because it's dominated by the same few and it's boring without broader participation. The more people that contribute the more interesting this board will be. I have to say also that it's a turn off when people are still snarky about anything red - really, let it go!!! My guess is that the majority of the few folks left over there were not even around when the big split happened. I've been on both boards and I wasn't even witness to it. I say merge the two boards and let the two most prolific posters battle it out. Now THAT would make for an interesting board! Bet this elicits a few comments ) PS I know a merge will never happen, but I really think it should.

Seems unfair to call out those few that do continue to make an effort to regularly post and hang a boring label on the results. I've become more of a lurker lately so I won't cast a stone on the forum content. There' s a cycle to forums sometimes and when Hugh is relatively inactive or working on something that doesn't generate a lot of interest, then posts and enthusiasm will wane. I do hope we perk up in the fall when HJ starts new projects. I would hate to see Kristin finally pull the plug. Opinions vary but I prefer to speak more privately on this forum. Where it goes colors what I choose to share or comment on. Not to give excess drama to the occasional red comment, but it's as much about a certain mentality and mind set as it is historical events.

Even if I'm not posting, I still check in daily and it's reassuring to know that the site is still here with all that history. The most upsetting part of the demise of an earlier board was that we lost all those discussions, all that background information. Selfishly, I'm hoping Kristin keeps this running in whatever form. Also, after so long, the people here feel like old friends even if we don't see each other as often as we used to.
Kristin, thank you for getting this started and keeping is going even when your interest has wained. Also thank you to those who've posted over the years and those who continue to make an effort. I'm not bored.

There's quite a useful search engine on this board, and I agree with wombat, the history that has been captured here is priceless. The reactions and great comments made by the many fans who have populated this place over the years - those who have come, gone, and some who are still around - is an amazing treasure trove, and I think it would be a tragedy to lose it. Every tidbit of Hugh news remains interesting to me on a daily basis. Well, most of it. I just don't post every item here like I used to because the, I guess I'd call it "return on investment" in terms of responses and actual discussions, had gotten to be very minimal.

First, thank you to everyone who participates here, even if you're just lurking. I appreciate it.
Second, I have tried everything I could think of to encourage people to post. You can't make people do something like that if they're not inclined to do it - it's a shame sometimes when I think of the people who have registered here, but never even bother to introduce themselves, wondering what kind of contribution they could have made to the board. But that's life; they don't want to post, I can't make them. They move on for whatever reason and I gave up trying.
I created this board for one reason, which was a place where I could post photos without a lot of prying eyes. I really only invited people I knew from Live Journal to it at first - but then I got membership requests from others and decided to open it to anyone who wanted to register. So it became a real message board, and I was happy with that. The only problem was that people started taking the photos and posting them to other places - which considering how I obtained them in the first place, was not cool at all. Some people joined just specifically to take the photos from here, and yes, some of them were from the "red" board. So I put restrictions on viewing them, and so those people who came here just for that never bothered to post, and I got complaints from the people here who were posting and actually part of this fan community. In other words, I penalized the members who were contributing in order to keep away those whose only purpose for being here was access to photos, and that sucks, and it's given me so much grief as far as this place is concerned. So I stopped posting photos.
As for the "red" board - I don't give a fuck about that place. Once it closed, that was the end of it for me. I don't read the current Ozalot board (though I have seen comments here and have been told things about it) and have no intention of ever doing that again.

I'm not sure that I can comment on any of the above stuff because I'm not even sure what the 'red' board is or the ozalot, but I know for sure about this forum from a friend that told me how wonderful you were Kristin and how this was a great blog. So no matter what happens on this forum, even though I'm new to the place, I know a lot of people certainly love this place and like coming here to the people. Clearly you are a great fan Kristin and thanks for putting the forum up to begin. Even if it may be not many people that are posting, there is a great quality of fans on here that are constantly posting. So thanks for all you do

Things will pick up too, once Hugh gets back to filming, even if it's Wolverine.

I don't post often due to time constraints in the real world, but love checking the board daily and often look back at old photos and clips when I need cheering up. Hugh is like an anti depressant- an instant mood lifter. Thanks Kristin for all your efforts.
