Well, at least everyone here seems to be safe, if not sound. If there's anything I can do (up here in the Hudson Valley, we're pretty much A-OK) to help, just let me know.

Same here in Milford. Had hot shower yesterday. A friend in Montville NJ drove up this morning (40m away) since we have gas, unlike where she is. There are lines here but orderly (so far). Wait is nothing like the 2 hour norm. If anyone needs anything, let me know. And PLEASE let there not be another storm (this one snow&ice) next week,

Everyone around me has power except for my development. I stayed at my sister's today, it's too dark and cold at my place. Sister has internet but I think we will have to go to my mother's who has no internet and my IPhone has spotty AT&T connection. if the power doesn't come on - I have to go to work on Monday and I need to shower and have hot water! Hubby drove down to Exit 5 on the NJ Turnpike where there is no problem to get gas, he said it looks like another world, there's no problem down there.

Thanks, LB, for letting everyone know that we are fine here. We got power back Wed. evening but I've been too busy to get here. I feel so bad for you all without power -- I remember last year when power was out for so long; it's no fun. I don't know how I can help, but I'm willing if I can. There's refuge up here near Hartford.

If you threw in a zombie plague to that mess you'd have the makings of a pretty decent horror film.
Which is a very roundabout way of saying, it could be worse, at least you're not battling shuffling hoards of the infected undead?
Seriously though, I'm glad everyone made it though in one piece. Stay warm.

Hi folks, seems you've made it through the filthy whore known as Sandy. We're all well at Kozlowski Manor, no damage or injury. Our issue is no power/electric since Monday night. We can cook on gas stove but house is cold at night/morning. Don't have internet, getting online whenever my cellphone let's me LOL. Battery running low, hope to be on again soon. *hugs* to all & Take care

Have to deal with screaming niece and nephew who thankfully go to other grandmas to sleep. One sister also still doesn't have power so she may be here too, but thankfully we had somewhere to go.

Ahh yes, the joys of frustrated kids couped up without video games/internet. May your life return to normal soon. Still waiting for power to return here.

Just read that PSEG says 78 percent of power is restored. How did me, my sister, my brother, a few friends and some in NJ on this board get to be the lucky 22 percent? And we all live in different towns!
The only bright side is I'm at my Mom's which is bus country into Manhattan and they are fine and she's only 40 mins away. My train is running an emergency schedule and a lot of lines still aren't running so the trains will be packed.

And we all live in different towns! I suspect that there was probably a lot more damage done to the area where you live, so it's taking longer to fix it. It's also got to do with how widespread the outtage was - and since we're talking about New Jersey, forget about it. So many people without power, it's going to take time to fix it all. I hope you get it back soon. My apartment is in between a hospital and a firehouse, they're both about 2 miles away in either direction - if we lose power, it comes back on ASAP. The last time we lost power was during hurricane Irene, and it was only out for about 6 hours, according to my sister. I was in Portland, Maine at the time and we never lost power there. So, the lesson there is to move closer to a firehouse or hospital, LOL.

Wherever we get our power is probably damaged. What's annoying is my whole town looks like it had power except my development. But we border another county and many of them don't have lights so my development must be on their feed. Going to work from moms so hopefully can catch up with a real computer and not an IPhone.

Wake up to 58 degree house this morning. Woot. PSE&G said out power scheduled to come on between Nov 9th and 14th. Not happy when we are 1 of 4 streets left in town that don't have power. Then I hear about people who've been devastated, left with nothing or worse....and I feel like a spoiled brat.

We're also in that relatively unlucky one third of town that doesn't have power, heat or landline phone; and our roof gutter and leader fell down. But when you consider the widespread, devastating damage and loss of life, it does put everything else into perspective. I still can't get that story out of my mind--of the Staten Island (where I grew up) mother carrying a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old, banging on someone's door as her SUV broke down because of rising water. The "neighbor" told her to go away, and shortly thereafter, the kids were swept away by water. You can guess the result. Awful, awful stories. I wish that guy could be prosecuted.

I know most of us really shouldn't be complaining about no power when there was such devastation. Went to work from Mom's today, hubby went home to a house that was 50 degrees - he finally called PSEG and apparently there's a downed wire and he was told "downed wires are the last priority" - the work order is in but the technician hasn't gotten to it yet apparently. He's just worried about pipes freezing.
Like I said, have to keep it in perspective because of all other devastation. My nephew's wedding is Saturday in Maryland and a lot of people are cancelling because of Sandy (my cousin lost her house, another cousin's house was flooded, cousin of my nephew can't get a babysitter because of the situation and I think her house was flooded too....). Hope this nor'easter we're supposed to get this week isn't too bad and doesn't complicate things.

Awful that some folks still don't have power. (More awful that some folks now don't have houses, but being without power is devastating in its own way, especially as we are so used to it.) My folks in West Virginia only lost power for a few days this time, and they were out for a week and a half after the windstorm in July. Stay safe and warm everybody.

Since I'm at my Mom's I'm taking the bus. OMG the bus lines!!! Took two hours to get home and I still don't have power. Hubby is home freezing dressed in layers and a hat. I can't believe how many are still out. Lights all over my neighborhood except my development.

Nice surprise when I got home from seeing the play GRACE--a phone message from hubby saying, "Let There Be Light." Yes, we finally got our power back this afternoon.
Now, if only it holds out when the nor'easter arrives on Wednesday.

I'm worried about that nor'easter, is work on resuming power going to stop and will people lose it again? And will commuting be more of a nightmare than it already is? Still at my mom's and we're supposed to leave on Friday for Maryland. I've got to get home before then. And the poor people who lost everything will now have to deal with that.

Power came back on, no longer have to sleep in sweats, long-johns and a hat. REALLY appreciating what I have right now. Finally able to watch News12NJ and got a better idea of what's going on in the state. Watching some of the hard hit areas made me tear up, hope this Nor'easter will be "kind" and skirt out to sea.
