[glow=red,2,300]In other words, this is not your mother's Hugh Jackman fan forum. It's mine, and what I say, goes.
Hope she'll never read the forum ;D (but she's already asked me to bring her ALL Hugh's movies to watch... OMG) Thank you, Kristin! It's a lovely place to be here!

[glow=blue,2,300] Welcome![/glow] A few simple facts about this forum: 1. Welcome. This is a friendly forum for fans of Australian actor Hugh Jackman. Please feel free to look around at our "open" forums and threads. These are: Hugh NewsUpcoming Film NewsPotential/Rumored Project NewsUpcoming Television/Theater/Miscellaneous NewsBut there's so much more if you register and become a member of the board! 2. Posting is not mandatory; however, the only way a community grows is if people join the conversations. We encourage you to post! If you have absolutely no intention of posting, then please don't register, and just continue to lurk the open threads. However, we're a great group of fans if you get to know us! A link to the "Well Hello" thread is here, where you can introduce yourself, and which is a good place to start. Or feel free to start your own thread in the Wave Hello forum. Guests are welcome to post in the open forums/threads; however, guests cannot create threads, only members can create them. This is to try to prevent spam, as it will not be tolerated. If you post spam, it will be deleted and your IP will be banned from this forum. 3. There is to be absolutely NO reposting of anything from this forum without permission. That's why it was created, a mostly PRIVATE place to share thoughts about Hugh. The open threads are so you can get a general idea of what goes on here, but they aren't a resource for other fan sites. I know I cannot control this, but I hope that some of you will respect this. You are certainly welcome to ask a particular member if you can repost whatever it is they've posted. If you find something that has been posted on this forum that belongs to you, without your permission, please let me know and I will either give credit or remove it. 4. This is a different kind of forum. We don't hold Hugh up on some ridiculous and unfair pedestal - we know he is just a man and isn't infallible, we don't perceive him to be perfect. If we don't like the projects he chooses, we say so, and we say why. If you don't like to hear criticism of Hugh in any way (though we do draw the line at personal criticism, with the exception of his clothing, it seems) then this is NOT the place for you. We heap praise on him when it is deserved; and we are critical when it is not. Yet we still all adore him nonetheless. 5. Please do not take most comments I make literally. I pretty much make stuff up and I'm just having fun. There's a lot of joking around that happens here, so try to think before you post when being critical, as sometimes it's difficult to know if someone is being serious or just fooling around. NOTE: The discussions on this forum can be racy at times. If you don't like this, then it's at your discretion whether or not you contribute to or read the posts. Adult language is allowed and will be used, but not to excess. I am not going to police this forum to the point where certain topics are taboo or ban posters for off-color remarks. That's not what this is about. This is an open forum to discuss anything about Hugh Jackman. If it's not your cup of tea, then obviously, you have a choice to read or not. The only thing I will not accept is anything graphically pornographic. It's against the Terms of Service of ProBoards anyway. In other words, this is not your mother's Hugh Jackman fan forum. It's mine, and what I say, goes. Just a reminder to read the updated rules so everybody knows what's going on here now.

It's rather scary how much is now visible to the outside world. I think I'll have to go back an remove all links to external sources my posts because I don't want anyone following them back here.

I agree with Wombat. What was the reason for opening? Every fan who is interested in discussions, not in lurking, may become a member. But we all know that there are some fans who will never regist here or even they become members they won't take part in discussions ever. All they need is just to take the info we've posted and repost it somewhere... that's all. I know that you may say, that "it's your choice to spend a couple of hours a day on finding something or not" - that's true. My choice is to spend that time, but I'd like to share it with people who I know and I can trust and who I want to share with - the members if this board, but not with guests.

Okay, look. I am trying to draw some interest to this board from new fans. Why? Because there's 105 people registered here and only about 10 people post on a regular basis, and quite frankly, yesterday, I was ready to close down the whole thing. Nobody registers here, and why would they, since nobody can actually see what the hell is even going on in here. There's nothing a guest can see to draw interest. Although I appreciate everyone who does post, the fact is that we get the same articles posted over and over, or we get similar articles posted that have no new information, or people over analyzing stuff and it's incredibly boring to read and even I am losing interest.
So to that end, I'm going back to what I was going to do yesterday and close this place down. I don't have the interest anymore and I thought maybe if I tried to draw new people to the forum it might help, but clearly, that's going to make some people unhappy or worried about who gets to see what around here.

I understand you, Kristin, really well. I have my board as you all know and I have absolutely the same problem! We tried to do everything: to open and close the board, to make an announcements of what we've just posted there in the closed forum, I gave links , we started posting translations of the interviews for Russian fans who doesn't speak English, we've tried EVERYTHING. NOTHING WORKS. There're still some of the lurkers and some (about 10 or less) who post regularly. So the only conclusion I made from that is: we know every TRUE fan in the world and there're no others. Really. All of them are members of this board + some keep sitting on the other boards (not so much of them and you know them all very well). So I thought maybe some knew fans (fresh blood lol) will appear when his new movies will be released. Don't close this thing, please. There're some of us who really appriciate that you gave us the place where we can gather and discuss the man who we really love and share the stuff and be friends as much as it's possible.
With all my love, Oxana

I've locked everything down again. I don't want everybody going and deleting posts because I'm trying to draw some interest in this place.

Don't worry about me. I just went back and removed a few links where I wouldn't want the writer of a blog following me back here. Once I know it's open, I can be more careful. I posted at Media Blvd for a long time without a problem and that was open to all.

Doesn't matter. I think I'm done. I can't open up the boards because people are worried about who sees what they've written, I can't get anybody new to come here because they can't see there's even any activity going on here, and I get people either complaining they get ignored (and some of those people only post once every six months to begin with) or nobody posts, and most of the conversations we do have are just repeated over and over, to the point where I don't want to hear another word about how some people don't like the trailers for Real Steel, etc. There's really nothing there to talk about. Somebody thinks it's stupid, oh well.
I get that there's nothing to talk about right now, and I know people are trying to keep some kind of discussion going, but it's incredibly boring, and what the heck am I supposed to do about it? So I tried to do something and I get a jerk who I don't want coming in here causing problems for someone else, and that's not what I intended to do at all.
So either I go back to having only the people I knew when I first started this forum allowed on it, or I close the forum, because I can't figure out how to make this place interesting enough that I want to be here at this point. Maybe it's just time to move on. I really don't know.

This is the only HJ forum that is alive. And I mean really alive. I don´t think it´s repetitive and there is still something to talk about. I am not bored at all. I love this place! I am at other actors´ forums and those are dead. With only two or three active posters. So believe me, this place is more than busy. It appears as first on google. I don´t think there is something you really can do. To start posting and keep posting at any forum is difficult. Sometimes it is just a temporary obsession (which I know, I have registrations at John Simm or John Cusack forums without really posting) and only a few from new members will do more than just say "hey"

and I get people either complaining they get ignored (and some of those people only post once every six months to begin with) well, it's not an issue of the board, it's an issue of their own Ego. Look, I posted some stories about my trip to SF, some funny facts from the show, posted the photos I took - absolutely no response. No problem! Maybe it was not interesting for the members at that moment or they had other things to discuss. That's how I think things go. not true! there was not a day without new posts. If someone doesn't want to comment it's an issue of that person, but not the board's one. I agree, sometimes the conversations looks like a chat between 3 or 4 people here. But what's the problem with it?! Is here any member who doesn't know that there're some special members who know more about him, or who have their rights to do that because they were the first who supported this board and the admin? Besides even if you can't be envolved to those discussions it's always interesting to read them. IMO Besides if the source appears as first in Google what prevents people from registing and knowing what's going on "backstage"? If they are so lazy, so do you need them here? I think you want active members, but not just increasing the trafic, right? The only problem I see here is in Hugh. LOL Yes. He plays soccer, but not in movies. When he's back to movie business you'll have some new active members here.

I dunno, I guess I didn't think anybody would care if I opened up those threads, because they're just news threads.

It's got to be a huge amount of work to keep a board like this going and you have every right to maintain it as you see fit. If you think opening more of the board up to guests, by all means do so, but, as others have said, it's a slow time for Hugh right now and there is a risk that newbies aren't going to be looking for information until he's got a movie or other big project going. If there's not a big rise in readership, that's not your fault. This is far and away the best of the boards I've seen since I became a fan in 2006. I'd hate to see you close the board down. But whatever your decision, thank you for all your work and passion over the years.

Hugh is always doing something. Things will really jump with RS interviews & reviews by Sept.
