Me, too. Interestingly, in yestserday's "Extra," when Maria Menounos asked what project he regretted turning down, his immediate answer was still CHICAGO. So he still thinks about it. Maybe one day he'll do a short guest-star stint in the show. That would be super.

Paul Walker died in a car crash. I didn´t watch Fast and Furious but I saw a few of his other movies and Running Scared was really good. I never was a fan but I liked him. And with the recent "cancer scare" with Hugh and this, it hit me that death is unpredicatble and usually takes the nice guys. It is really sad, he was just 40 years old and had a teenage daughter, poor girl It seems unfair when you think how many scumbags live to be 90 (like many of those former nazis, who live happily hidden around the world...)

Very shocked to learn today about Philip Seymour Hoffman's passing. The initial report indicates a drug overdose. What a loss; very sad news.

Very shocking, indeed. He was also young and I would have never guessed he had drug problems.

Just saw this very sad news. Sorry to hear his great career was cut short.

Very saddened by the passing of PSH. I've always thought him an outstanding actor. I've sometimes wished that Hugh had had a career like his -- perhaps not as widely known, but highly respected and given great roles. I guess it didn't make him happy, though. Such a loss.

On The Hallmark Channel, there's a series that airs every Saturday night called "When Calls the Heart" (I love these sappy shows), set in 1910 in a Canadian coal mining town, about a schoolteacher who comes from money and decides to try her hand in this small town, and a Canadian Mountie who's assigned to the town (you know where this is going, right?).
Anyway, the point of this post is that I've seen a video interview with the two stars, and I had NO IDEA that the Mountie, played by Daniel Lissing, is an Aussie. He was asked in the interview to read the commercial promo in his "American accent" and before he did that, he had to do "vocal warmups" to get ready, which entailed something like pulling his cheeks and saying his "r"s, which of course, led me to think of Hugh and wondered how he prepared for his American accents (Jess Platt aside). He said his co-star who was sitting right next to him sometimes will stop him in a scene and say playfully "you sounded like an Aussie!!"

Walking through the theater district today, I spied Peter Friedman exiting a restaurant and throwing on his jacket. On the back, in big letters: "Hogs & Heifers." I was SO tempted to ask him if he got it during the filming of SOMEONE LIKE YOU but resisted doing so. Instead, as we walked in tandem for a few steps, I said how I'd enjoyed his movie and stage appearances, and wished him a happy spring. He smiled and thanked me.
I'm thinking he HAD to get that jacket through the movie shoot. If so, like Hugh, he has favorites that he wears for more than a decade. He looks just about the same, by the way.

Being reminded of SLY and Hogs and Heifers had to go hunting a bit and found a whole bunch of stills for the locations for the film. There are some nice shots of a very young Hugh in the mix www.onthesetofnewyork.com/someonelikeyou.html

Thanks for the great shots of "Eddie," Jamie. And I just realized I should have posted about my sighting on the Hugh's Acting Partners thread. Oops. Mods, please feel free to move as you see fit.

Sure, I remember him being in the speculative mix for this last year (when we were keeping track of Hugh's awards chances), before the release date got pushed back to this year. I saw a preview yesterday for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (coming out in October), which features Carell in a more typical, Little Miss Sunshine-like sort of role. But the actor who caught my eye more as a prominent character was Dylan Minnette, who played Ralph Dover in Prisoners. Good to see him again. I'm still sad that Denis Villeneuve didn't allow any deleted scenes to be included on the Blu-Ray because I remember mention of a much longer, emotional scene between Hugh and Dylan that ended up on the cutting room floor.

So an actor who is normally wooden as a stick finally learns how to act and it is Oscar worthy? No wonder hard working actors like Hugh (and others, like Gary Oldman!) will never get a chance...
Sorry, I am really biased here because I saw Tatum in four movies (not because of him but because I wanted to see the movies) and he was the same every single time.
