I'm planning on shaving my head for Breast Cancer Research in the autumn with the university's support hopefully and donate my hair to Cancer Research UK.

I'm relaxed and excited now I've told my dad I'm going to have a smooth headshave for charity.

I'm already falling in love with the idea of having a shaved head! I can't wait to shave it all off!

Thinking of my future shaved head makes me feel better, happier and more confident in myself so my brother's and sister's reactions hurt. This means so much to me as I believe I will finally meet the real me. It's not like I'm asking them to shave their heads.

Man, I feel so great since deciding to shave my head at long last. I've never felt so happy about myself before or smiled so much. I've never felt so good about myself or self-confident. I never expected this to happen.

I've decided not to care what others think about this. I'm proud of myself for finally plucking up the courage after eight years and I'm the happiest, best and most confident I've ever been. Those who don't like it have seven months to get used to the idea.

The only problem I can see is that people will assume you have cancer, but as you're doing it for a cancer charity, that's an opportunity to spread the word. It will only be a few weeks before you have hair again.
Thinking of the three women I've known who lost their hair (all had breast cancer), they each took a different approach to baldness. One wore a wig - until it blew off one day and after that she mostly went around bald. The second had a selection of snazzy headscarves. The third just wore a hat.
Maybe you can try out different styles of hats before you have your hear cut so you have a look you're comfortable with if the shaved head is too much.

Every time I think about being bald I've either laughed to myself or smiled broadly but a friend of mine is making two hats for me.

I've now realised the long journey I've decided to go on and the sacrifices that will be made along the way. Breast cancer has and can again affect my family and I won't stand by and watch another die from it.

After a long chat with my sister I've decided to postpone my sponsored shave til next spring for practical reasons but I don't know whether March, April or May but believe me this wig will finally be coming off. I'm a bald chick screaming to get out.

I've decided I'm going to get a celebrity to shave my head. Even more money raised that way.

Droversgirl- If I may put on my moderator hat for a second. For the sake of keeping things neat, I should point out that this is the welcome/intro board, not the general chat/off-topic board. I was going to let it slide but, as it now seems to be an ongoing subject rather than a one-off, if you wish to continue talking about your adventures in baldness can you please take it over there instead?
Locking this thread for now. I shall be moving it shortly.
EDIT: Moved to general off topic board
