BBC America had a VICAR OF DIBLEY marathon not too long ago. Armitage looked scrumptious--and I loved the nontraditional love match.

I'm happy for the info LT and Ellen. I currently did a Mad Men 39 one hour episodes marathon with Netflix as well and have added Don Draper into the mix of ESOLs. But wait...was that Don Draper or was it Jon Hamm? But wait...was that John Thornton or was it Richard Armitage? LOL
Dawn French is so beyond good. Just Googled her. OK. Fine. I'm an eegit.

So they are setting up "tent cities" around this LA theater for the Twi-Hards since the movie opens this week and they expect it to be bigger than the last one. Interesting stats: More Fandango stats: Of 1,000 Eclipse online ticket-buyers, 45% plan to see the movie with a group of friends 28% plan to see it with a date or significant other. 58% plan to see it more than once. 38% say they’re more likely to repeat viewing because it’s summer 33% of respondents are 24 or younger 34% of respondents are 25-34 27% of respondents are 35-49. What, no over 50 group? ;D www.deadline.com/2010/06/eclipse-top-advance-ticket-seller-of-year/

A-Team - A plotless mess. It was loud, wild and over the top...and I love it ;D I mean, if you really leave your brain at home, you can enjoy it. I think actors did a lot, they didn´t take it seriously and obviously had fun. And Sharlto Copley did only two movies and he is already among my favorites. His Murdock was priceless. ;D I have liked Bradley Cooper since Alias and Liam Neeson is...Liam Neeson. The end was a little too much because they actually tried about some plot there and it didn´t work. But that´s my only complaint. If you are not much into action movies, then it´s not for you but if you like some brainless action fun sometimes, then I can recommend it.

I dunno, he was pretty well regarded after Memento, Insomnia and Batman Begins, so, it was just The Prestige that didn't live up to his hype, I guess. Even though that's a pretty good film as well.

I agree, he's been very well known from the beginning and while The Prestige didn't make a much money as people expected, at least it's a great movie that is highly respected by people. And it did make money, so it's not bad.

The other good thing is that a lot of people will be catching up on Nolan's back catalogue and will "discover" The Prestige. I think it's possibly Nolan's best film so far.

It's extremely high on IMDB's user top 200 list, I think it's like 80 or something so pretty freaking good! I haven't talked to one person that doesn't like it if they've watched it. And whenever people want me to recommend a Hugh movie, The Prestige is the first one I say.

I saw the old version of that for the first time relatively recently. Man, they were fond of their coloured filters, the whole thing looks like some kind of trip. Be interesting to see what a more modern, realistic take on it would produce.

There was a version of it done not that long ago. I think Harry Connick, Jr. played the part of Lt. Cable.

I found a character synopsis for South Pacific here. It has Emile de Barque as aged 40-55 and Nellie Forbush as aged 18-27 and Cable as aged 22-33. Can Hugh sing Baritone? I've seen him described as both Tenor and High Baritone but I've always thought he was weakest on the low notes.

The deepest I've heard his voice was when he sang "Hark the Herald Angels Sing " at a Carols by Candlelight concert in Australia in the early nineties. ( It's one of my favorite performances by him). He also sang "Bethlehem Morning" and "We Three Kings" in a deeper voice than I was was used to, having previously only heard his Peter Allen imitations. Another example of a deeper voice is "Crying"- not the Paperback Hero karaoke one. I'm not enough of a music expert to say whether any of these would classify as "Baritone" renditions, but I liked them a lot and would love to see him as Emile de Becque in South Pacific. Maybe he could do both Cable (shirtless) and De Becque (in tux) to showcase his versatility !!!! LOL
Cheers

Lieutenants aren't usually much over 30. I've heard the version of Crying you're talking about. He's quite good. Better, IMO, than Orbison's original and almost as good as Don McLean's version.

I was ordering some DVD's on Netflix today. I put Deb's "Beautiful" in my queu. For some reason, "Blessed" isn't available, at least not yet. Hopefully, it will be soon. Anyway, where it listed the cast for Beautiful, I was able to click on Deb's name, and it brought up a bunch of her movies. I know that "Voyager" has been discussed recently, but unfortunately, it's not currently available thru Netflix. I'm assuming the 2008 film "Sleepwalking" has been discussed on this forum? It stars Charlize Theron and Woody Harrelson. Deb must have a small role 'cause I didn't see her in the trailer. I put the film in my queu. Has anyone seen this film? After watching the trailer, it looked very interesting. I saw one other Deb film that I've never heard of. It's called Crossover Dreams, and it's from way back in 1985. Deb does appear briefly in the trailer. She's dressed as the Statue of Liberty and appears to be dancing with a guy. LOL...whatever! Strangely, this film IS available thru Netflix, so I also put this one in my queu, although it doesn't look very interesting. Funny that Netlix has Crossover Dreams, but not Voyager.

I've posted screen caps from Sleepwalking. Dull movie where Deb has a very minor bit. Some of the most unflattering visuals of poor Deb ever were her moments in character as a roadside laborer.

Krissyj, are you sure Netflix doesn't list VOYAGER as available? I just looked it up, and it appears to be there. It's also called HOMO FABER, the German title. But I looked it up as VOYAGER, and there it was, with the German title in smaller print beneath. Maybe a typo is to blame?
