I hope everybody is dry and safe out there. Give us a shout out to let us know you're around when you're able to.

Seen mphila and Junebug on facebook, and Wolvietat on twitter (as well as Piratejenn and amproof for those with longer fandom memories). In fact I think the only person I haven't heard from today is Kristin but she was fine and listening to spotify 8 hours ago according to facebook's endless need to inform me of everything even though I tell it not to...

We lost some very large limbs from one of our trees in the back yard, which we are planning to have removed anyway since it is dead, and it did not hit anything, thank goodness. We had lots of wind and rain last night and today.

Living in my office at the hospital. Braved a trip home this afternoon to empty my fridge and freezer . Scary driving with so many downed trees and power lines . The lack of traffic lights was hair-raising. I hope we get power faster than the ten day prediction.

The news channels here in the UK are showing very dramatic images of the flooding and damage and power cuts. Good to hear/read on here and FB that everyone's ok

NJ, NYC and Long Island (and parts of Connecticut) lost a lot of power, which I believe is why most of the Jersey folks are MIA. The Jersey shore is totalled. Like the WHOLE Jersey shore. Apparently Point Pleasant beach doesn't exist anymore, Seaside Heights (a.k.a. Land of Snooki) is a mess, and the place where I used to go, Long Beach Island, was completely flooded and a mess too. That's not even half of it. Most of lower Manhattan was flooded. The Hudson River was probably right at Hugh's door - good thing he's halfway around the world. I got almost nothing. No power outtage, almost no rain, and like I said, I live uphill from the Hudson River (even though it is right down the road from me, so we weren't affected by the flooding there. Just a lot of wind and even that only got up to the mid 40s with gusts into the 60s.

No power, no heat and a downed front gutter and leader, but nothing horrendous like trees falling onto the house or a flooded basement. Could have been a lit worse. My workplace has had no power since Monday, so it hasn't reopened yet. Trying to conserve power on my cellphone as landline is out. Stay safe, everyone.

I lost a few shingles, a piece of siding and some fence damage, luckily I never lost power. A report from a friend who managed to get onto the NJ barrier islands, our house at the shore (AC area) seems to be unscathed.

It has rained in Pittsburgh for 4 days but power is still on. I am sending good thoughts and prayers for N.Y and N.J.

We lost power Monday afternoon @ 2. ( in Milford PA, north east tip of state on Delaware River). Restored this afternoon - so 48 hours. Tremendously high winds. LOTS of downed trees. Many roads still closed. Rain stopped but now in the 40s. We were lucky - some still don't have power in town and all around us. A friend's son lives in Breezy Point, Rockaway Queens. Their house did not burn & was saved but everything inside is lost.

Forgot to add, Cath just got power back on in CT. Similar to my situation. She's ok too.

Cellphone service back so sending this. No power since Monday night. All that worked was an old fashioned wall wired telephone and battery backup radio. Power hopefully back today most of town has it but us. Going to aunts to shower since no hot water. No NJ trains or buses. More when I'm back online.

It's good to hear than everyone is safe, though maybe a bit cold and dirty. How long is it predicted before transport is restored and you're all expected back at work? (In emtee's case, how long before they let you out of work?)

I just want my power back right now but who knows when NJ Transit trains will be running, they're out. I'll have to find another way to get to work. Have to find a bus. You need three people in the car to drive into manhattan and not all subways are running. Manhattan below 34th Street is all blacked out. Good thing Hugh isn't here.

It must be really frustrating that even though you have no hot water, no electricity, no light at home, there's ton of cleanup works around the house awaiting, yet you still need to travel half the city on foot to get to work in the morning. My sympathies for everyone affected.

In succinct terms, it stinks. Still no power - although I do have hot water - and my landline is out. Have to travel to the nearest Home Depot to charge my phone. Lots of detours because of fallen trees and no traffic lights. Hard to find gasoline, too. Blecch!

I feel so bad hearing all these stories and there's not much I can do. Stay safe, Ellen.

Lots of detours because of fallen trees and no traffic lights. Hard to find gasoline, too. Blecch! I'm with ya Ellen! This is no fun. I went home last night and froze my ass off. I decided life was significantly better living in my office so back I came . The post storm goodwill is running low on the roads without traffic lights- the idiots have emerged. Last night I passed through a busy intersection and as I turned, two car behind me crashed head on. Lines for gas remind me of the 70s when gas was rationed. I'm happy I still have a full tank. Happy to hear that some have had their power return but I must admit to coveting thy neighbor's light.

Ellen glad to know you're still out I am too. Everyone around me has power though. Sister has power going there tomorrow. Cell service is spotty. Don't know how the hell I'm getting to work Monday since trains are out. Hopefully I'll have power by then but I may have to stay at my mothers in north Jersey so I can take a bus. We'll see where we are on Sunday. I just hope they don't make us take three vacation days at work for this! It's so dark and cold and nothing to do I've been in bed by 9:00 every night.

I feel so bad for everyone with no power, etc This is such a tragedy, with all the destruction and deaths. It is like one of those disaster films that is actually happening in real life. Prayers are out there for all of you who are effected by this.
