Oh, just found this thread. Nice. Paying bills on a Saturday night is my small "grr". But I have to say, listening to Hugh singing "Everything Old is New Again" (and the rest of the BFO CD) is making it a lot more enjoyable.

I go "grrr" every time I find an old thread here with a old, broken link to some apparently-great video that was uploaded onto megauploads.com, followed by a bunch of "oh, that's so great!!!" comments. On the other hand, seems like it was the site that was used to post the pirated version of Origins, and trying to stop movie pirating is the big reason it was taken down. So I guess I shouldn't complain. But ... a little grr.

But if you can point out the name of the video, or what it was related to, maybe one of us still has it stored somewhere safe and can re-upload it.

Oh, that's a good point! Anything that was uploaded was also downloaded, after all. If I'm dying to see something, I'll ask. Thanks!

So our garden was flooded...third time in ten years I don´t understand why from all Europe, the Central Europe is always hit the most by the floods And my dad can´t go to clean the mess right now because he had his knees fixed so it will take a while. Mum can´t move with her right hand too much because of the operation she had due to the breast cancer. So I guess me and my brother will have to do it in our spare time (I can only on Sundays, the only day a week I can sleep and relax). Go us

Sorry to hear you've been effected by this flooding! I've seen some of incredible pictures, and it seems amazingly widespread. My town (but not my house, thankfully) was flooded a couple of years ago in the Hurricane Irene storm, and I'm sure there must be folks on here who were impacted by Sandy last year. Even after the waters go down, it leaves one huge mess and lots of work for people.
I hope that it doesn't get any worse and that you and your family are able to get things cleaned up pretty soon.

We live in the South West and fortunately it isn't so bad here like in other regions in Germany (and elsewhere in Europe), but we had some water in the basement too. But that's nothing compared to others. Friends of us live in Passau and their store in the city is completely flooded (once again) and destroyed.

Well, it is just a garden. It is a mess but nothing compared to people who lost their homes. There are towns and villages that just got over the 2002 floods and now have water in their homes again. The anti-flood blocks worked in Prague (it was weird to go to work with a knowledge we can be evacuated anytime) and other places but the water went higher somewhere and also, the water went different ways this time, too. It is unpredictable, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear about your garden being flooded, Lenka. Here in Hungary, the flood situation has never been more severe, we are literally witnessing history being made. I live in a historical town by the river, and they are pulling up a mobile dam to protect the historical buildings. It's unimaginable what the consequences would be if the water reaches this part of the town. We are talking UNESCO sites. I was out building sandbag walls as volunteer today and man, the desperation I see on people's faces whose houses (and there are many) are under water now. Never build your house too close to the water, that's an all-time lesson I learned today.

I can't have heard any news reports for a few days as I had no idea there was such severe flooding in central europe. I hope the dams hold and the water subsides quickly.

Never build your house too close to the water, that's an all-time lesson I learned today. I heard it on the news, that you expect the worst floods in history I hope it WON´T be that bad and you will be OK. The despair and the feeling of running out of time, it was the same here. I work four streets from the river and the anti-flood blocks were built and held, thanks for it. But it wasn´t too pleasent to walk through an empty street (they said the evacution was voluntary, so we had to go to work) and wait for something bad to happen... But I will never forget 2002 when the historical center was flooded, our subway hit and many beautiful buildings damaged. They even invented a new method for saving historical books because our national library was hit. This time, it wasn´t but the water damaged different parts, where nobody expected it 19000 people were evacuated, 700 towns and villages hit and some of them second, even third time in the past 10 years. I think Central European countries should make a plan how to prevent this in the future because as much as ready we were, the water still found its way. I don´t understand what´s happening Also, they say it may not be over yet because the rain will return so it could get worse again

Almost half the people I work with were laid off at my workplace today. Haven't heard the final numbers, but it's at least in the hundreds. It's a pretty small locale in terms of population, so this is a big hit to our local economy. I am relieved to have been spared the pink slip, but I feel terrible for so many of my friends and colleagues who were cut. And I expect I am now going to have twice the work load, which means the quality of my work will suffer, and then they will come for me next time around.
It's not as bad as a flood, but grrrr.

Ironic to note that sometimes the alternative to layoffs is lower wages so all the employees keep their jobs. Which is more black-hearted? Low pay or no job? Not speaking to all of Walmarts issues but you can defend that at least their employees have a job.

The work I do is still in great demand, it's just being done elsewhere, where - indeed - the pay scale is much lower. I work in technology development, and the work we've done has helped enable the ability to transmit data around the world almost instantaneously. The irony is that this means the work can now be done anywhere there is an educated population. The main (or only) reason I was not laid off today is that I've been willing to work with teams of people located in China and India. The folks who resisted or bitched about that reality were typically the ones who were let go.
In another thread, Jamie mentioned that things will balance out eventually. I think that holds true whether we're talking about farmers and garment workers or skilled engineers. As the standard of living increases all over the world, I hope the wages elsewhere will also increase, giving American (and European) workers a better chance of competing for that work. But it's not going to happen any time soon. Certainly not before I retire and probably not before (fingers crossed) my kids graduate from college. They won't be engineers.

I was soooo happy to have gotten some simple-to-use technology for Xmas which allows me to watch YouTube and other online video content on my tv. I watched half a dozen Hugh videos and then stupidly showed my son how it works. Now I'm afraid I'll never get access to my tv without a fight again. Grrr.

I'm looking for some help with a computer problem. I know Kristin and one or two others around here might know what's up with my router ( I think that's the issue). Suddenly, in the last day, I can't connect to Telecharge. I get messages about the server not accepting the connection. Both my laptop and iPad have the same issue. I've rebooted the router and the modem with no change. I can connect with my iPhone when I take it off wi-fi. Any theories why Telecharge is dissing me? Are they trying to save me from buying too many marginal seats to The River?

Are they trying to save me from buying too many marginal seats to The River? I recall seeing a post from somebody who had the same problem during the BWW pre-sale. It may have something to do with the site's automatic protections against what it "thinks" might be a ticket broker. I'm not sure if they had a solution besides maybe just waiting. Have you cleared cache, cookies, etc. Looking for that BWW thread ... Okay, what the heck, not finding it. Maybe it was posted here? I know I saw a discussion about this exact problem recently. Found it. Not much help, I'm afraid, but you are not alone (unless this was you, LOL): www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.php?thread=1073201&dt=4Maybe the old site address that somebody mentions there would be something the try, if you haven't already.

If you're able to connect to any other site, but not Telecharge, then it's not your router, it's most likely what Sue said, they're denying access because of too many hits from you on the site. If you have something like Identity Cloaker or Tunnel Bear, you can try using a different IP address, but other than that, I would wait a day and see if you can access it. Just remember that it's probably IP-based, because it's not working on any device on your home network, so clearing your cookies won't solve that problem, and if you have passwords and logins stored for any sites, those will no longer be entered for you. If you're in a hurry, maybe you can use someone else's wifi, any retail place that has wifi (like when i moved and had to wait TWO weeks for Time Warner to come install my cable, so I spent a lot of time at Barnes & Noble) or, if you can access the Internet at work, try that.
